Wandsworth Memory Bank for Patient and Public Involvement

MAC has been active in Wandsworth in a range of patient and public involvement and engagement activities since 2001 when Valerie Moore and Andrew Craig worked with the Council, local NHS and 3rd sector bodies to create and evaluate the “Stronger Voice in Health” training resource (see below) for the National Consumer Council (now part of Consumer Focus).

As the NHS moves through continuing and often disruptive change,  there the local memory of PPI activity – both successful and less successful  - will be lost.  Organisations close, new ones spring up, key individuals move,  everyone is an “interim manager”, documents are lost.  ”Organisational memory” is an early casualty.  The new Clinical Commissioning Group and Local Healthwatch need good memories about PPI most of all and it is for them that we have created this Wandsworth Memory Bank.

MAC has created this archive reflecting things we have been active in.   It doesn’t claim to be comprehensive –  even impartial –  but we do think it is worth preserving and transmitting to others for the future.
