Get Smart about Engagement
Posted: 29 May, 2012 by Andrew Craig
The DH and NHS Networks have made it easy to get smart about engagement with their Smart Guides to Engagement series. Six titles published already and more in the pipeline. They are aimed at clinical commissioning groups in particular – but are useful for anyone in health and social care who needs to up their game with users, carers and local communities.
I wrote the series introduction and guide to Engagement for Commissioning Success and co-edited the series with David Gilbert of InHealth Associates.
CCGs recruiting lay members to their new boards will find David’s thoughts on Working with Lay Members and Patient Representatives tailor-made for their needs.
Other titles in the series so far:
- Working with LINks and Local Healthwatch by Tim Gilling of National Centre for Public Scrutiny
- Practices and Patient Engagement by Stephanie Varah of National Association for Patient Participation
- Listening, Learning and Responding by Brian Fisher, Lewisham GP and NHS Alliance lead for patient and public involvement
- Community Development – improving population health by Gabriel Chanan of Public Agency and Community Empowerment Strategies (PACES)
There are several more titles about to appear, including using social media, so watch this space for developments. The Smart Guides to Engagement series are free to download as PDFs.
And thanks to all the contributors for their understanding and cooperation, without which we as the editors could not have completed this on time.
